My thoughts exactly!!! Thank you so much for posting this, heartcore. Misanthropes seem to enjoy convincing themselves that they are estranged from the majority and that everyone else is fucked up while they are the enlightened ones who can “see through the bullshit” as if that’s a magical and exclusive gift. Misanthropy is a product of willful ignorance and narcissism I believe.
Humans are an incredible species, their intellect and self awareness separating them from most animals. They have fabricated the most complex and wonderful structures and systems such as mathematics, art, music etc. As Lorax once said, we are the medium the universe uses to observe and learn about itself. I like humans, although I can admit that there is a good portion of evil ones and humans have varying levels of being prone to exploiting their primal instincts to the point of abusing others.
Without humans (or other sentient beings), there will be no one to appreciate the earth, that is true.
Uh… human beings aren’t going to simply disappear without a moment’s warning (unless they break out the nuclear bombs). Perhaps we’ll all die off eventually, but who cares about what happens on an uninhabited planet, no matter how many marvels it may boast? Are people freaking out about the local flora and fauna on the moon Europa? Perhaps, but it is so that they can study it and learn more about the universe. If no one is here to research, it means that everything is even more pointless (unless the aliens swoop in once the humans have gone).
Talk about how beautiful the earth is all you want, but if nobody is there to study, observe, and partake in its bounties, it’ll just be another useless water-filled rock floating in space.

Someone’s a downer. We as humans are constrained to subjectivity, we as individuals should care about the beauty of the Earth regardless if it’s objectively pointless to do so. Why? Because that’s how you fucking enjoy life, if you don’t want to suit yourself.

Humans are as important as anything else, I’m speaking strictly on a subjective level. Humans are more sentient than other animals (dolphins are up there though) so they can comprehend the universe more efficiently and deeply than any other animal on Earth. This consciousness is the universe observing itself. You could say the same for any sentient life form, but I’m specifically referencing humans because from what we know they are more sophisticated therefore better at doing that than any other lifeform
Earth was here before humans arrived, and this planet will probably still be around if humans ever disappear. (Unless humans blow up the earth, or the earth gets hit by an asteroid or something). Humans need earth, earth doesn’t need humans.
I like to think of Earth as a dog , with humans as fleas living on the dog.
List at least one thing that we humans do to benefit the world. We cut down forests, use up all of earth’s resources, hunt certain species to the brink of extinction, pollute the world both air and sea. There’s plenty more. Sure there are groups trying to repair the damages caused by humanity, but thats like giving an antidote to somebody you’ve poisoned. The truth is, our survival benefits our species and our species only. To the rest of the world, we are a bunch of baboons playing god. In the end, none of us are right or wrong, it all depends on how we perceive things.

I think that many religious people are brainwashed and don’t even know it. They hold a distorted view of reality, and maintain outlandish perspectives because they’ve been so thoroughly indoctrinated by folklore/legend/myth. They cling to these strongly held convictions because they can’t imagine any other “reality”. The only “reality” that matters to them is the one that exists in their imagination.

We’re not harming the world either if you want to play it from that perspective, the world can very much exist without us and the damage we cause is not permanent to the Earth itself. The Earth will and can readjust to our impact, it is humans and other lifeforms that will suffer the consequences. We’re not hurting the Earth at all, we are hurting ourselves and the life that exists on it.

I’m not stating that we humans are destroying the world. I’m just implying that we impact the world and the environment around us more negatively rather than positively. I’ve listed a couple of negative things we do, but you have yet to give me one thing that we positively affect the world other than our own species.
That is the difference between intelligence and ignorance. When people fall in love with their ideas and beliefs to much, they tend to not notice the irrationality and idiocy of their own thinking. Could you imagine if everyone was like this? There would have been no discoveries or new inventions. That’s why trying to argue with religious people are a waste of energy. As Hugh Laurie quoted “If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people”.

We can’t do anything significant to the earth as a geophysical entity (probably even in the case of an all-out nuclear war). With regard to the biosphere we’re already done tremendous damage (some scientists call it the ‘sixth great mass extinction’), and the effects of global warming in the future will create much more damage, maybe by orders of magnitude. But many/most ‘lower’ species, such as micro-organisms and insects will do just fine: it is the species that can’t evolve fast enough — such as homo sapiens — that will be fucked.
The environmental movement made a big mistake when they chose the slogan, ‘save the earth’: it is not the earth that is in jeopardy, it is ourselves.

I guess I just misunderstood. I got mixed up with Heartcore’s last statement “The earth is better off with us”. I assumed you shared the same view. I just wanted to know why the earth would be better off with humanity when there are significantly more harm being done rather than good. It didn’t really make much sense.

The reason why atheists can’t understand religious beliefs is because they are based off of books that have been translated, interpreted, and altered within the course of thousands of years. How can you whole heartedly believe something like this without a hint of skepticism.

How did I last?
It only takes a few minutes to drown, and thats without pills.
Thats only one instance of supernatural intervention in my life, one of many.

@MrBaDGUY I hope you realize that overdosing on pills has one of the most highest failure rates amongst suicide methods. I highly doubt that it was a divine intervention that saved you from your fate.

Thats why I added the “water factor” into it, which in theory would have “finished me off” once I passed out.

What happened in that 1.5 hours? I don’t know.
I know I was in the water because I remember walking out of it with the rescuer.

It’s funny how “believers” are so quick to assume divine intervention when there are 10,000 other possible explanations.
The brain is the most powerful organ we possess; once you convince yourself that something imagined is real, it’s highly unlikely that any evidence to the contrary will convince you otherwise.
Only Gods supernatural intervention will save her now, as she has become possessed and once that occurs, she doesn’;t have the ability to understand what is right and wrong.
The spirit affecting her took her and turned her into a complete slut, sleeping with as many guys as she could be with, even while having her own STD’s, knowingly giving me one twice (maybe more). She also made porn movies of herself, sent and posted them online, cheated in other ways left and right, and became as rebellious even more than what is “normal”.
She also no doubt spread STDS to her partners (sometimes her and 3 other guys).
Yet when she wasn’t under that influence, she was “normal”.
My experiences were quite real, so was the 24 k hospital bill for this all, and that doesnt include the money the county spent on the searrch and such.
Yes, maybe God saved you.
Or maybe it was mermaids with underwater cell phones.
It could’ve been the leprechauns having a bonfire on the beach that called 911.
Maybe Satan saved you, because he wants as many obnoxious Christians alive as possible.
