Invisible yes – and from what I see so far – irreversible. In some matters of law a statement – worded exactly as prescribed – is all the evidence it takes to prove your situation. I dream of the day that would apply to us on SP and all those like us.
Einsamkeit is it ok if i email you or you can email me if you dont want to share your email. Mine is elementalheartart27@yahoo.com .. and if you dont want to contact me it all.. i understand.
It would be good to go into one of these places even without having a terminal illness, and plead ya case. Then it could be rubber stamped or not. Bit like a prison parole board.
I thought that as long as you had the money and means to get there it didnt matter? Surely severe depression counts? If they can see that you’ve tried everything possible to try and improve your life? Mental illness should count its still a poor quality of life. It should just be our own decision to make.. Bloody hell. We shouldn’t have to go to one bloody part of the world either.
To their credit, Dignitas is, per Wiki, leading and supporting court cases around the world to get right-to-die laws. Till then we all have to make do if we choose to.
Fair point but we shouldn’t have to prove fuck all. We are humans in our own right we should be able to actively choose what to do with our own lives. Its bullshit.
Proving weariness of life should be no harder than proving a marriage is broken. Just stating so in writing alone is accepted into evidence and virtually bullet proof in any no-fault divorce state in the US. Would to God this was the way of it for weariness of life every where. I have researched self annihilation in some ancient cultures and it seems it was so accepted that it only got passing mention when happened.
You have to get clearance from a forensic psychiatrist. Provide a full, detailed medical history. I can forward you the links, if you want. It’s a long, expensive process.
As for ancient cultures, even in the O.T./Torah, there is mention of “he fell on his sword” and such and there is no indication that it was or was not condemned. So, yeah.
The first mention of a suicide in the OT was an assisted one no less! Not until 300AD, IIRC do I see any widespread condemnation of suicide, which was 200+ years after NT was completed. It was not until about 700AD that the word itself even came into existence. WTH
1. It is tens of thousands of dollars
2. You have to go through an exhaustive process which includes getting a psychiatrist to sign off on your mental competency. There are only a few psychiatrists who do that, namely forensic and (I forget) as well as providing very detailed health records.
It is unlikely that I will go through the process unless I become terminally ill; should that happen it would be unlikely I would be well enough to endure the journey: IRONY ! ! ! !!

I would if I had the money and a “terminal illness”
Give western civilization another 40 years to evolve and our condition just might be recognized as terminal. Too late for me.
That’s exactly why I put the quotes around “terminal illness” 🙂 The cancer of the soul is invisible.
Nah, the way things are going, I don’t think that realization is ever going to be made.

Hey Elle, I emailed you. Say, are you the former supermodel Elle MacPherson ? Got tired of being in the spotlight and feel suicidal ? 😛

I’m sick of being controlled.
Me too.
How do you prove “weariness of life” ?

I wrote them. They have to protect themselves against lawsuits.

Fuck going through that! I’ll just need to need to find a tall bulding or some other cheap and cheerful way..
It is a rigorous process. Dignitas isn’t the only one, though.
most of the others don’t accept foreigners, unless I am misinformed.
I believe there are two that do, but now I forget which ones.
tens of thousands to die at dignitas?
If you’re from the States, yes. I think it ends up being about $22k. There’s a body to be disposed of or transported.
Wishful thinking then I guess. Gonna have to do it ourselves (sigh) Now let’s split up, and last one out’s a *****.
Oops. That’d be ME!!!
Nite-y nite to all!
