General Sleeping Pills by xxcora 6/5/2017 written by xxcora 6/5/2017 Does anyone know anything that will send me into a deep sleep? Not those pills that “relax you to ease you into sleep” I want a heavy sedative. Also there are reports that it increases depression and risk of suicide. Benadryl is safer but it takes a while, doesn’t always work, and sometimes makes you more awake/irritable. But it’s available over the counter. Then there are herbal extracts like valerian root, melatonin, St John’s wort. Those don’t do much for me but others say they work, and they’re totally safe. You could try FLNAD’s suggestion above and add heavy refined carbs (pasta, bread, white rice) for an extra carb crash. That’s effective but 2 problems, it’s not a “deep” sleep (you’ll probably wake up a few hrs later) and also if you have image/weight issues it’s not good to eat carbs and sleep because it goes straight to fat if you don’t exercise. I hope you find a way that works. I’ve struggled with insomnia for 10 years and I just keep trying different things, but each has its drawbacks.
