I am seriously considering suicide if i dont graduate with my class this year because it will completely screw up what’s left in my life. I have already written letters and sealed them for the people i want to leave a message for. They are currently in my book bag where im hoping they will find them when/if it happens. So i guess this isn’t exactly my suicide note but it’s close i guess.

I can tell you that some of the most smart and successful people were dropouts. Bill Gates? The richest guy in the world? He dropped out. Albert Einstein did too, you know. Rockerfeller? You know the guy that Convention Center’s named after? Yeah, him too. So, by the way, did my aunt. She’s richer than my father, and he’s a Professor with a Ph.D. Happier too.
Point is, not graduating doesn’t mean your life is screwed up. Just means you didn’t graduate. There are opportunities out there just waiting for you to seize them, if you want to. Start up. Become an entrepreneur. Tons of small businesses were started with a single guy with a great idea. Trust me, most of them had no clue what they were doing with their lives.
The working world is a strange place. You can find success in the oddest ways. The old saying goes that it isn’t what you know, it’s WHO you know. You have people you’d want to leave a message for. They can help you through this. Find your path, but remember that it’s still too early. You don’t know if you’re not going to graduate. Maybe you will. At the very least, hold off until then, and even if you’re considering it try to remember that a degree doesn’t guarantee a successful life.
Burn those letters. Please. Suicide does nothing. And you don’t need to graduate to be successful. Don’t worry. This too shall pass, and please, talk to someone, even me.
I graduated in September, rather than June because I had to take two classes that summer. Three years later I was in graduate school from which I graduated on time. If you fuck up this semester, you fuck up — it’s not the end of the world — for you or anyone else. Fucking up is not showing up as the attorney for your client who’s facing murder charges. Fucking up is being the surgeon and cutting of the wrong leg of your patient. If you kill yourself, then people are going to be saying, “WTF? She killed herself because she got an incomplete in organic chemistry? THAT was dumb.” And we don’t want to be remembered as dumb…
