Does therapy work?

Seriously. When you’re as depressed, unable to trust, wounded, afraid, anxious, angry, and lonely as many of us are, can we really be helped by a therapist? I used to think so but it almost seems like it makes things worse because the therapist thinks they want to help but have no idea what they’re in for. Once they find out they can’t handle it and start taking things personally and then react instead of guiding.

After much contemplation, I’ve concluded that life is essentially pointless. It doesn’t make me depressed as much as it makes me apathetic to much that happens. But there is a certain freedom to apathy. It helps me see things for what they are, not through some emotional distortion, and see that life’s really not that complicated. In the end, enjoying life is the only worthwhile pursuit. And if you find yourself unable to enjoy life due to your circumstances, then you’re pretty much screwed (I’ve also concluded that life is inherently unfair).

Also, this site could do with a little DEATH METAL!….on the ukulele.

Why do people fear death?

It’s because all the evidence points to there being nothing after death, just an endless state of nothingness, not even unconsciousness, just nihil. Not even blackness, not even a thought, an absence of anything, thought, processes, colour or anything, no heaven, no hell, just an eternity of nothingness, not even darkness, just. nil. And most rational human beings know that no matter how loudly they pray or claim they believe in the magnificent sky fairy it doesn’t change the evidence one bit. Or alter the reality, that there is nothing beyond. And people find that hard to deal with. Myself included.

I was doing ok for a little while. I’m finding myself becoming more scatter brained and slowly relapsing back into my depressive state. I’m becoming angry with people I shouldn’t, missing people that don’t miss me, and loving people that don’t love back. I can’t seem to find a balance….this balance they all speak of.

This is a serious question. Please be 100% honest, especially if you have bad news for me. I never had a girlfriend. After all the rejections and hurt I’ve gone through bec of women, I cant be objective about my looks anymore. I just hate myself.

I am a 21 year old girl living in New Zealand. I first began to notice a dip in my mood when I was 12-13 but understandably at that age I couldn’t quite get what the feelings were a symptom of. Constipation

Does anyone find that the more depressed you become, the more constipated you get? Any relation? It seems this way for me. Also, does anyone have any success using over the counter enemas? The worse my depression gets, the less often I have a bowel movement. And since I’ve been basically suicidal lately, I’ve also been backed up. Fiber food/pills/dulcolax don’t help. Any ideas?
