people always say that suicide is bad. but, why?
i think if a person wants to leave, they should be able to leave this world without any judgement.
everyone is going to die eventually, so why not now? all the memories we create are going to fade in the end anyway.

I don’t believe suicide is wrong or right. It’s just another option. I guess it’s right if the situation calls for suicide. It’s wrong if the situation calls for living, but you choose suicide.
Suicide is morally neutral. I’d implore anyone who’s suicidal to explore other avenues of resolving their problems first just due to the finality of death but checking out is always an option.
“Suicide is morally neutral.”
Loled
Glad to see the hardcore theists are adding a lot to the dialogue…
Haha, trying to attack me on a personal level to make my statement seem irrelevant. Ive seen that before. Dude, I didnt even refer to religion in ANY way, and you are already on the bash-theists-trip. Just imagine I hadnt talked about being Christian in the other thread.
There is nothing like moral neutrality. Its a myth, that non-trivial actions are possibly neither morally good nor bad. Just imagine this: You see something evil, but you dont do anything about it. Is that morally neutral? Of course not. Also ask yourself why anyone should act according to moral neutrality – if something like that existed? You can only answer this question by saying that doing so is ‘right’. See the contradiction?
Your hypothetical is a false dichotomy and I raised your theism because only theists claim absolutes in morality. Way to enforce the theist stereotype by employing a logical fallacy while trying to dictate moral absolutism. Arsehat.
😀 Oh Lord. Repetition is a rhethorical tactic, not a logical one. The same applies to technical terms. You basically said what you said in you first post, only with some fancy words. I have yet to find an argument in your posts.
I am just going to assume the usual: Getting aggressive and offensive because a contradiction in your mind becomes apparent. I have seen this a thousand times as well. I am not going to reply again if your post only contains insults, repetitions and generalizations.
Yes, my first post contained my entire point. It was you that began the war-of-words, let’s not forget (how could we when all we have to do is scroll up.)
You’ve made it pretty clear that you don’t understand either of the terms “false dichotomy” or “logical fallacy. Maybe try picking up a non-fiction book once in a while.
My opinion:
From the point of view of someone who had someone who really matters to him(the first girl I ever loved) try to commit suicide, people seem to think it’s wrong because they view it as an easy way out. That’s not how I felt though.I never thought suicide was wrong,I just didn’t want her to do it because I loved her and I knew she had a lot to live for.But now,I sort of understand her pain. Not that if she tried again,i’d let her do it(not that I can do much anymore, she left me and that’s why I ended here),but I’d have a different approach to it.I was like anyone else,I had the ”don’t do it and all that, bla bla bla” approach. Then I realized when I fell in depression, that I had the approach that I’d hate someone to have on me if I were to tell him about it.
Wow,getting sidetracked here.Back on topic, people tend to think that suicide is just a phase.Maybe for some people it is,but not for everyone. Some people forget about it,then,a few months, years, decades later,it comes back to haunt them, sometimes even worse than the first time. They also seem to think that suicide is a mental illness of some sort and that a few pills and therapy will help you.I can’t speak about that, because I have always refused help, because I never believed it would help me.
To sum it up,people say it’s bad because they pretty much assume that at one point,it’ll pass and you will move on.Sad thing is,to truly understand what suicide is all about, you have to experience it..and I don’t wish that upon no one.
…without any judgment? That’s asking a whole damn lot right there. You can’t even get out of bed on the right side of the bed without someone judging you for not getting out on the left side. People are judgmental and jerky sometimes.
Asshat. Hahahahaha
Suicide is the product of a debilitating, sometimes lethal disease, it’s unfortunate and sad, and definitely not something to be praised nor romanticized. It’s akin to a cancer patient dying of cancer.
I don’t think suicide is wrong. We’re all conditioned to “believe” that it’s wrong, the cowards’ way out, blah blah blah. Also, I’ve read somewhere that suicide is illegal in various places, which makes me LOL because hey, if I committed suicide, whatcha gonna do, lock up my corpse?
There’s no edit button as far as I know, so sorry for the double post. But I forgot to mention the fallacies! Ah, man, the fallacies. Put ’em in a Funny Farm(â„¢) and they’ll get all better. Give ’em medication – and like magic, they’re right as rain. Clearly, suicide is for the cowards.
Nah. That’s pretty much bullshit. I think it was on this very site that I’ve read rants about people who were put in mental institutions and basically treated like shit, had counselors/therapists that didn’t give a flying fuck, etc. Nobody can truly understand depression – science can’t, anyway – so there’s no “cure.” But people still think it’s wrong to commit suicide.
I find it completely astonishing that so many people are so debilitated by depression… but “no one can understand it?”
Logically speaking, LOTS of people “understand” depression. Why, then, do all the “officials” keep acting like no one understands it?
It’s just one more reason to be depressed.
