Isn’t it a complete waste of MILLIONS of lives to have so many ppl depressed/jaded about life/dejected about everything? Well except the government/corporations would like it that way- if ppl are depressed, we aren’t striking/rioting/organizing/demanding change. People who are inactive aren’t a threat to the powers that be. Medical Industrial Complex being one of them.
Anyhow, from an individual POV, depression is such a waste. How many of us would be so productive if we weren’t depressed? If we didn’t feel shit about the world or our lives?
I feel like I’m typing into the void- sure a few ppl are going to read this post. But so what? What does having a few ppl read a few of our posts here and there really mean? We are still depressed and nothing has changed. 1 year later. 5 years later. 10 years later. More of the same but different shit in our lives.

it’s only a waste if there’s a comprehensive recovery plan. because isn’t that it? cost to neglect versus cost to try to recover? except they’re going the middle path, cost to pretend to try and recover, because they have to pretend to try, else people get really POed that no one cares. 😛 All about perspective, maybe no one cares, maybe they actually are trying to recover and they’re just stunningly incompetent, how’s that for a prospect? depressing? yeah.
Like my agency claims we’re trying to recover depressed and hopeless people, we did a whole damn training on it, “the science of hope.”…………. it pissed me off is what it did, it was so out of touch with how under resourced we are and how hard up our clients are……. but I’m sure it helped them obtain some grants, that’s my cynical approach, everybody’s got some boxes to check. I know I do. The “scientist” they had was the saddest little bald guy I’ve ever seen….. kinda funny, if you don’t take it too seriously.
I know it’s difficult, especially with physical issues and the like, illnesses, all that.
It’s weird because true stability for everyone is a tough nut to crack. I’ll speak of the US since that’s where I’m at, but for example, the poorer and lower middle class would want more money, the rich wouldn’t want to give up too much money, one side wants more affordable food, gas, etc, the other wouldn’t want to eat into their profit margins, etc.
In a technological world, where we’re plugged in pretty much 24/7 and have a level of connectivity that previous generations considered as science fiction, it’s a lot more difficult to have that level of ignorance of worldwide events that we’d once had as smaller tribal communities. Happiness would’ve been a lot easier due to that ignorance, along with a bigger focus on religion keeping a lot of communities together, and less people on the planet as well, among other things.
I genuinely feel like if we were able to secure a home, food, and water as basic rights as a human being flat out everywhere in the world, that would help immensely. Cultures are so different, and we’re so damned focused on nickeling and diming the crap out of the poorest people who are already streched thin, and not giving a proper shit about the people who you need for society to function… but I digress.
Proper mental health treatment, and better access to proper medical insurance and the like would also help a lot. There’s still a mad stigma about mental health, since it’s not as visible as physical health and depending on your status, you get shit on for it if you’re “successful” in life.
So yes, it’s bullshit that it’s like this to the point where so many people have given up on life and are choosing to eschew the system. It’s just stupid.
