” I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can’t stand it any longer. It’s the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I’ve somehow been infected by it. “
That is overly simplified. All living beings on this planet today got here by conquering and occupying. From mammals to plants to phytoplankton. Life is not for the meek. Mammals have a LONG history of outsourcing other mammals, birds and reptiles. Read about the Cenozoic era also known as “The age of Mammals” Mammals took over this planet at that time. There were many species that still exist today like primates, whales and rodents.
this is a little off topic…but about the humans being virus’s, have you ever wondered if cancer and flu and diseases are earth’s way of protecting it’s self?
ALL life is a virus. In science, everything wants to be dead, or rather at its lowest energy potential. Life is an anomaly, is inefficient, is futile. Existence of a high energy potential is counter to everything in science. So in that way, yes, diseases could be the universe’s way of fighting to return to a lower energy potential (rather equilibrium).
You are talking about the principle of minimum total potential energy. It is related to thermodynamics. Many diseases are very much so alive. So that would be like saying that an inanimate object (earth) is generating life forms in order to kill off life forms. We would die without the flu etc anyway due to the laws of minimum potential energy so there’d be no need to generate life forms to kill us off.
True enough. But “humans” are nothing more than complete universes unto themselves in a way. There are more atoms in the human body than there are stars in the universe. “We” are nothing more than a collection of mini universes if you think of subatomic particles. So one could say that all life, or seemingly “animate” objects, are collections of inanimate objects. I don’t think that there is a real difference between the two, other than perspective or viewpoint. We cannot prove that quarks, for example, do not have a “consciousness”, or that they do not contain smaller elements which have “consciousness”. Everything is just a theory, there are no facts. A “fact” is just the limit of our understanding at any given point.
I was just pointing out what we call “life” is paradoxical to equilibrium. Even an “inanimate” elements want to “die” through radioactive decay. Matter itself does not want to exist. 😀
Hi irspow. It is an interesting thing to talk about and I don’t pretend to know it all because god knows everyone is still trying to figure it out. My take on it though is that life goes beyond the laws of physics and thermodynamics. I mean life wants to live. That’s how I see it and not the other way around. Equilibrium is by definition a state which is achieved when all competing influences reach a balance. So, if you are talking about physics they are going to have a different view of equilibrium than say if you are talking about biology. And you touch on that by saying that each person etc is a universe in themselves. I have often wondered if we are not some micro-organism inside of some gigantic being and we just have no way of knowing it because we are so infinitesimally minute.
I do believe that we are BOTH infinitely small and infinitely large at the same time. Now there are many theories that fight this, but it is my personal belief. There is just no absolute proof either way. I mean there is no reason that our entire universe is not just a sub-atomic particle in a larger universe. And that that larger universe is not itself a quark in another.
We will have to agree to disagree on “life” though. I just don’t see how “life” is anything but a large collection of “non-living” elements. I see “life” as a temporary crest of amplitude of a higher energy potential on a chaotic wave. But “life” is indeed, to me, a temporary anomaly of probability and nothing more. And it is not part of the normal range of possibilities. When things settle down in the vibrational chaos, “life” will not exist.
You see life in terms of physics and thermodynamics. That’s what you are saying. Perhaps I do too but I tend to blend in more of a biological dimension as well. But then again if you want to break it down into the simplest forms yes life is energy that can be either in it’s potential state or in it’s active state. So life is only energy and not a particularly special kind of energy either. But rather a random collection of matter and time (events) that coalesced into something that is a blip on the radar screen in the otherwise inanimate universe.
@uttilini @irspow: both are very interesting point of views.
I thank you for both ur comments,
they somehow make me see the ‘Bigger Picture/reality’ of my otherwise very miniscule petty human life.
I had clicked on the link in your previous post, Niki. Odd that your profile indicates you are male. I would have assumed by your moniker that you were female.
Here is a not-so-much-a-secret of mine: I keep favorites on this website, and you are on that very tiny list… Your posts are always enlightening. I’ll add that you are a very intriguing character.
Btw, great job ‘uttilini’ and ‘irspow’ for the mind stimulating conversation.
@ 我愛羅, Gaara : thank you, that means a lot..
there are honestly quite some people here (along my stay for 1+ year on this blue website) that are simply…astounding, and even sometimes also wise & intelligent “beyond normal humans”…so it’s not only me. and this is why I like staying on this website..sometimes you can get glimpses of ‘unknown’ wisdoms and knowledges, even the ‘Hidden’ ones..!
and the more I think, the more it make sense that these people can be suicidal in this often ‘cookie-cutter, shallow, petty’ world (& society).
in fact, it’s always been that case.
I agree with you. And, you’re welcome sir. Oh yes, the wise & intelligent “beyond normal humans†are who make interaction worthwhile. Unlike the weak and ineffectual plebeians..
Wait, you are indeed male?? Just making sure.
@我愛羅, Gaara : yes, using my ‘female’ voice. I’m kinda good at singing, that I can even imitate female’s voice. all my friends & people are usually shocked at first, lol.
I like the idea of a male covering Yui’s song. Got any recordings to share? If you sound anything like Tomo (from the visual kei band Vistlip) http://youtu.be/DXiFuESOgZg then you sir, have got yourself a fan. I’m curious~ By any chance, are you Japanese?
also, how many of you here also have heard about: Virtual Reality (VR) , Lucid Dreaming , Astral Projection ?
I really wish/hope those things are true … so I can enter into the world/universe of IMAGINATION, .. & bye bye boring, mundane, harsh, & limited Reality ! )

That’s so true
Yes we are, but only about 20%. The rest of us would happily changes our ways if we weren’t forced to live in a world of greed and self-interest.

that was probably the best answer i have ever gotten

OMG we are the cancer. lol
Just kidding.

@我愛羅, Gaara : sorry to burst your bubble, but yes I’m a male here.he2
thanks once again for ur kind words, I appreciate it much~
Oh, how nice. I may be mistaken but didn’t you once say that you sang the song “Again” by Yui?
@我愛羅, Gaara : yes, using my ‘female’ voice. I’m kinda good at singing, that I can even imitate female’s voice. all my friends & people are usually shocked at first, lol.
